Why we exist
While many supports are available, they are often fragmented, uncoordinated, or underutilized. Families are left trying to navigate complex education, transition, and community systems on their own, and young people move forward without a clear, connected path. We turn “Now What?” into a pathway.

Message from
Dalel (Dee) Medina
Founder and Executive Director
Wild Dandelions was formed from my personal experience raising our three adopted children with profound learning disabilities in Polk County, Florida.
Driven by a desire to empower my children, I embarked on a journey to discover effective strategies for fostering independent learning. Since 2001 my family and I have navigated the challenges through ineffective educational institution remediation strategies for our children with severe learning disabilities and systemic barriers firsthand.
This is why I sought to demonstrate that their intellectual capacity far exceeds their reading and writing abilities, and that—with appropriate support, skills, and effective tools—they can lead independent lives, pursue fulfilling careers, and become valuable contributors to our society.
These experiences have led to the creation of Wild Dandelions Services. Where my team and I have the privilege of working alongside families with young adults of all abilities to ensure that their support works together—turning uncertainty into clear pathways toward independence, contribution, and belonging.
Life is never what we expected, but it can become far more than we imagined if we are willing to step into it.
